The findings proved there were indeed benefits of structured exercise on cognitive outcomes like executive function*, memory, attention, and information processing.

The research points out that aerobic exercise performed at moderate levels of duration, frequency, intensity, and overall length yields the greatest improvements in global cognition. Meanwhile, resistance training shows up as particularly beneficial for enhancing executive function*. Additionally, mind-body exercises such as yoga, tai chi and even jiu-jitsu, when practiced with moderate frequency and intensity, also show promising benefits for memory.

Notably, older adults tend to gain the biggest and most significant cognitive benefits from exercise interventions however they are all cumulative. This just proves the importance a structured and balanced fitness program has on our cognitive health as we age.
